Underfloor Heating – The Benefits

What is underfloor heating and what are the benefits of having it installed in your home or business premises? The first thing to realise is that this form of heating certainly isn’t new and certainly isn’t a novelty. It’s been around for many years and it works. With energy prices currently soaring, it is most definitely worth investigating any forms of heating that may in the long run help to save some money, whilst providing good, solid heat. Perhaps, the first practical benefit of underfloor heating is that it does not require any radiators or any other kind of wall heating. Powered by either electricity or water, the heating under your floor provides great area coverage. There are a number of different systems available and the one you might require will depend on the type of flooring you intend to install it under. Some forms of the heating are not suitable for some kinds of floor, so it’s important to check that out first. Having your heating underfloor is far more energy efficient than having wall heating, as much of the heat generated from radiators is lost above your heads, whereas the rising heat from underfloor heating provides much more even and stable temperatures. How can this sort of heating save you money? Well, in general underfloor heating runs at lower temperatures than some of the more traditional heating systems, so over a period of time and provided the system has been correctly installed, you can expect to see bills being reduced.

Party organisers urged to tackle access concerns

If you’re hosting a big Christmas party or New Year’s Eve celebration you may want to consider protecting the grass around your home from heavy use and vehicle wear-and-tear. During the winter months you can expect bad weather. This could cause waterlogging to your grass areas and erosion of soils and landscaped areas. A solution would be the introduction of ground protection mats to create a temporary access. These lightweight mats made from durable HD Polyethylene would protect your property and stop costly repairs. They would prove easy to put down and more durable than plywood panels. Christmas is stressful enough without worrying about temporary access to your home as well. If you are planning more long term work on your home such as an extension or a state-of-the-art swimming pool you may find you need temporary roadways putting in place. Again, ground protection mats would prove the perfect tool. They will provide ground protection when it is necessary to take vehicles across your lawn and can even be used to protect finished surfaces such as tarmac and block paving from damage. Health and Safety is paramount in the minds of everyone such is the craze for litigation. By providing mats to use as temporary roadways and for temporary access you are putting the safety of others first and ensuring wheelchair users have temporary access to your home, party or staged event. They reduce the risk of people slipping and hurting themselves as they have a unique anti-slip traction panel. They are also recyclable so good for the environment too.
